What inspires you?
I’m inspired by everything in life; colors and shapes are everywhere. My imagination is running whether I want it to or not and what I love to do is interpret what I imagine in the most artistic manner on everything I touch. I’m inspired by the challenge of taking someone’s hair, transforming it, and presenting it to the world in a unique and beautiful style.
Why did you choose the hair industry?
My aunt was a hairstylist in Nicaragua and it was my mother who proposed it. She supported my mother’s family for a long time running her own shop and even trained herself in making wigs. After some analyzing, I realized, being a hairstylist allows me to express myself in unique ways. I required a career that allowed me to create with my hands and that kept me in a social environment and this was it. This rarely feels like a job to me.
What’s your favorite thing to do with hair?
I love taking my clients through the seasons. Each season, clients can have a different look to compliment their fashion style for that specific time of the year. A different haircut, a different color scheme, you know mix it up! I call it “The Evolution” and that’s my favorite part of hairstyling.
When I’m not doing hair I’m…
I stay in the fast lane! Yea! I’m usually making a mess pushing paint around while working on side projects. I try to also stay active so occasionally I’m training for a race and winter time means I start going to wrestling practices and coach. I spend time with my brothers and also travel a lot with them. In between it all, I zone out by listening to music probably slightly too loud.
